SCM Definition

Configuration Management (CM) is a discipline that applies technical and administrative direction and surveillance over the lifecycle of items to:

1. Identify (CI:Configuration Items)
2. Control (changes to configuration items)
3. Status Accounting (Record and report information needed to manage configuration items)
4. Audit Configuration (configuration items to verify conformance to specifications)
